A Lost Love

A Lost Love

In the hallways of high school,
Our hearts bonded like two irons in the hands of a blacksmith,
Your seat beside mine,
I could feel the heat of your love oozing out of you to me,
You need not say it but I knew you would cross limits for me,
You were always ready to be a resting pillar,
You stood on my edge of giving up and sent me back to try harder,
Maybe I would not have come this far if not for you,
Heart in heart, body in body, soul in soul,
Our love was true and pure,
But confusion and society left me at a dilemma on how to fully reciprocate your feeling for me,
Confusion because I was not used to this kind of love,
We were underage by law,
We were lost in parental teachings and initiation into the world,
We being of the same gender made society shout taboo,
We were torn apart, first by foul criers and then by life’s turbulence,
Fifteen years down the line,
And my heart still beats to the rhythm of your voice,
The features of your face and the way you walk,
These and many others still make my heart beat for you,
They make me think of how we could be in paradise, however imperfect it may seem.
